Cooper's Big Month

Our premature baby that once barely tipped the scales over 4 1/2 pounds is thriving. May was an exciting month for Cooper. He learned to sit steadily, crawl, clap, stand up, and say "da-da" and "ma-ma". He also had five teeth come in. He is so delightful and so much happier than he was when he was little, cold and always hungry! The new teeth hardly affected him. A couple of doses of Motrin were all that he needed. He's one tough little boy. With his activity have come many crashes. Very few of them have caused tears.

Carter is taking life at a more leisurely pace. He enjoys sitting and playing with toys. His favorite toys are John Deere tractors and lotion bottles. One of Carter's favorite projects during the past month was helping plant the garden. He really enjoyed playing in the freshly tilled soil and even gave it a little taste test. He may have a future as a farmer. Carter spends much of his day watching Cooper and attempting to stay out of his way. Cooper likes to use him to stand up and frequently pulls Carter's hair. One day Carter had enough of his brother using him as a jungle gym; he grabbed him and threw him to the floor. The first of what are sure to be many minor disagreements!

The boys certainly enjoy each other and playing together. Last week we sat down to have a rare uninterrupted lunch while the boys played in their room with the John Deere tractors. They also spend many hours playing together with the lotion bottle. It's so adorable to watch them interact.

Tell Carter not to worry...taking the "laid back" path is what Beckett has decided to do, also. He finally has a few teeth as of last week, but still won't crawl. He's getting pretty good at scooting and getting his bum high in the air, but he really has no desire to crawl! He's perfectly happy to let Natalie run around him in circles like a crazy woman and just watch. Anyway, we'll have to get together again sometime soon. Happy summer!
PS I love that picture of them asleep together. Are they still in the same crib?
